XConnector installation The XConnector is a single executable file that preferable needs to be placed on the Exact Globe Next / Globe+ (Citrix) workstation. In case of Globe+ four additional components need to copied to the workstation and registered. These four component can be found here. For this, best practice is to create a separate folder e.g. ...\XConnector and put the XConnector.exe and XConnector license file ( <..>.elc) in this folder. Additionally, a separate sub folder can be created for each import subject \ case containing the import definition mapping files. Microsoft Excel To use data from Excel source files Microsoft Excel is needed on the (citrix) workstation or server from where the XConnector is started. PS. When Exact Globe Next / Globe+ and the XConnector use the same machine this is already handled since MS Office (32-bits desktop version 2010 and higher) is part of the requirements of Exact Globe Next / Globe+. XConnector folder permissions Grant read / write / execute permissions to XConnector folder (and subs) to the AD user (group) name using the XConnector. XConnector source files permission In many cases the data to be imported in to Exact Globe Next / Globe+ is provided in Microsoft Excel or csv text files. The user(group) executing the XConnector will need to have read and write permissions on these files and location. In case a SQL view, table or stored procedure is used as a source of import data, the user(group) executing the XConnector needs read / execute permission on this view, table or stored procedure. MS SQL rights The user(group) executing the XConnector needs to be able to access the SQL server. By default the {SQL server} driver over tcp port 1433 is used. The user(group) executing the XConnector needs read permission on the Exact Globe Next / Globe+ company database(s). To enable automated imports using the XConnector, the user(s) group also needs to have write permission on the XMLevents table in the Exact Globe Next / Globe+ company database(s). In case a SQL view, table or stored procedure is used as a source of import data, the user(group) executing the XConnector needs read / execute permission on this view, table or stored procedure. In case user defined SQL functions are used in the import definition the user(group) executing the XConnector needs to have execute rights on these functions. Exact Globe Next / Globe+ rights To enable automated import of data through the XConnector the user(s) executing the XConnector will need to be enabled in Exact Globe Next / Globe+ and granted the rights on the relevant XML import menu subjects (e.g .menu XML - Financial imports - Financial entries). Depending on the subject additional functional rights within Exact may be needed, like the permission to create entries in a specific journal, warehouse etc.). The user also needs to have sufficient rights to start Exact Globe Next / Globe+. Scheduling the XConnector To automate data import into Exact Globe Next / Globe+ by the XConnector a task can be set up in the Windows Task Scheduler. The user account executing the scheduled task will need to have the appropriate rights on the file system, SQL and within Exact Globe Next / Globe+ as mentioned above. It's advised to set the "Run whether user is logged on or not" and define a suitable schedule to enable the continuous import of data. The MS SQL agent can also be used to schedule the import by the XConnector. It's best practice not to have the MS SQL agent user performing this import but to create a separate proxy for executing the scheduled task related to a credential matching the Exact Globe Next / Globe+ user name. E-mail notification The XConnector can send automated notifications using SMTP. For this the assigned SMPT port (usually 25 or 465) to the SMPT server must be open. And the user needs sufficient rights on the SMTP server to send e-mail.
